NAWBO’s inaugural Give Back Reception, Ignite Hope, is an opportunity for NAWBO and our Corporate Partners to come together in service to unhoused women and children in our community.
How: Please bring $25 gift cards, winter clothing for women and children (hats/beanies/gloves/fun socks), holiday gift bags, candy, gifts for teens, to be donated directly to Women’s Empowerment, our partner in serving the homeless in our region. Women’s Empowerment is a 501(c)(3) dedicated to educating and empowering women who are experiencing homelessness with the skills and confidence necessary to get a job, maintain a healthy lifestyle, and regain a home for themselves and their children.
Refreshments and food will be served.

For many of the women we serve, the holiday season can be an especially difficult time. Our program graduates often work tirelessly to provide food, shelter, and other basic necessities for themselves and their children, so purchasing holiday gifts may not always be an option. We create a special holiday craft party for the women and children who have graduated from our program so they can create gifts to give during the holiday season and be reconnected to services. Additionally, with the community’s support, we also provide each woman and child with a gift of their own. We partner with a number of groups to collect toys and gifts for the kiddos, but we are in particular need of the following items for this effort:
- $25 department store gift cards – target, walmart, amazon
- Winter Hats/beanies (infants, child, teen, adult women)
- Fun Socks (infants, child, teen, adult women)
- Gloves (infants, child, teen, adult women)
- Holiday candy
- Teen gifts/toys
- Medium-large size gift bags
- We also accept some gently-used clothing items for our Clothing Closet and warm clothes at this time of year are always appreciated.
