Rancho Cordova and NAWBO-Sacramento Unite to Celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week

RANCHO CORDOVA, CA (November 2024) — The City of Rancho Cordova and the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) Sacramento Valley Chapter are joining forces to celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week, November 18-22, highlighting the city’s thriving ecosystem for startups and small businesses. This partnership brings together Rancho Cordova’s innovative business climate with NAWBO’s legacy of empowering women entrepreneurs through advocacy, education, and peer support.

“Rancho Cordova’s DNA is rooted in thinking big and going global,” says Amanda Norton, Economic Development Director for the City of Rancho Cordova. “As a 21-year-old city, Rancho Cordova itself started like a small business. That experience is in our DNA, so we truly understand what it takes to start from scratch and grow. From our history of helping send rockets to the moon to our present-day support of entrepreneurs, we’ve maintained that spirit of thinking big while staying true to our entrepreneurial roots.”

The city, home to over 3,500 businesses—80% of which are small businesses with fewer than 10 employees—has developed several initiatives to support entrepreneurs, including:

  • Mbark (Minority Resource Kickstart Program): A 10-week business development course that has seen 67% female participation across five cohorts
  • Strategic partnerships with organizations like NAWBO, the Better Business Bureau, and local companies
  • A workforce of 65,000 people, creating a robust talent pool for growing businesses

As part of Global Entrepreneurship Week, NAWBO-Sacramento and the City of Rancho Cordova are hosting a Business Builder event titled “How to Make Your Mark with Marketing,” designed to help entrepreneurs establish their brand presence and expand their market reach.

“The Greater Sacramento entrepreneurial ecosystem is the most collaborative community I’ve ever experienced,” says Christy Serrato, Founder of Pair Anything and NAWBO co-chair of Partnerships. “This year’s theme Entrepreneurship is for Everyone unites founders, investor, and support organizations for a week of innovation-focused activities and networking. This partnership truly embodies that spirit.”

The event will be held on Thursday, November 21, from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM at the newly opened Frequency Co-Working space in Rancho Cordova. Entrepreneurs throughout the region are invited to attend. Tickets are available for purchase at nawbo-sac.org/events/business-builder-make-your-mark-with-marketing/.
