Sacramento Women Business Leaders Explain
Sacramento, CA (August 6, 2024) – An annual Economic Outlook Survey recently released by PNC Bank shows passion and personal satisfaction may be what makes women business owners more optimistic than men. In their survey, 43% of female respondents cite a passion for their work as reasons why they start and stay in business, compared to 28% of men.
Christina Dixon, President of the Sacramento Valley chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) says, “Women business owners may be more positive due to a combination of empowerment, resilience, and community support.” Dixon, an Employment Attorney and Managing Shareholder at Aecus Law P.C. says, “Many women entrepreneurs have had to overcome significant barriers to establish and grow their businesses, which can instill a strong sense of resilience and adaptability that fosters a positive outlook.” Dixon also cites the support, mentorship and collaboration that women often build through networks such as NAWBO for fostering a positive outlook.
Christy Serrato is the Founder of the Techstars-backed winetech company, Pair Anything, Inc. “What drives my journey with PairAnything is the vision of a brighter future for the food and beverage industry.” Serrato confirms that for her, passion for consumer inclusivity and diverse brand representation is a motivator. “This is what inspires me to take action and make a tangible impact.”
The survey results show this optimism extends into the future with both the economy and the success of their own businesses over the next six months is seen as improving. They also were more likely than male counterparts to expect their own compensation and savings for retirement would increase. This shows a change from PNC’s Fall 2022 survey when women leaders were less likely than men to expect increases in those two metrics.
